Today, I am delighted to let you know that my original painting, "Deeper Beauty," (mixed media fluid art on oval canvas), is published with Truly Magazine again.
This painting was created in conjunction with Michelle Sarabia’s article, “Embrace Your Age - recognizing the privilege and design of growing older.” I wanted to capture how beauty can in fact be deepened through the seasons of life -contrary to the worldly views of beauty. The worldly views on beauty promote youthful beauty. Wringkle-free, blemish-free, picture-perfect, edited, filtered beauty.
But I believe there’s a deeper beauty that comes with aging. Beauty that is formed in some hard seasons. Beauty that has its foundation in unchanging truth and love of God. Beauty that weathered the storms of life. Beauty that still is able to shine a light of living hope. In that sense, Michelle calls aging “brilliant.”
So in this painting, “Deeper Beauty,” I wanted to capture the beauty that is formed in layers upon layers. Each layer signifies life’s various seasons - some unexpected, some hard, and some even indescribable. But with all the layers, wrinkles, and blemishes, there is beauty - deeper beauty formed through these seasons of life.
I am so grateful to be able to communicate this truth through my art in Truly’s Seasons Issue.
I pray that this painting will encourage the viewers in many seasons of their life.
